How to create the perfect home office setup

The coronavirus forces us to make a radical change in our lives. Social interactions are reduced to a minimum, you are only allowed to go outside for essential activities. Work should be done — if possible — in the home office. For most people, this is a drastic change. After all, one is used to getting up early in the morning, getting ready, and then taking the usual walk to work. Working at home may therefore at first seem strange to many. If you are also one of those whose office has now moved into your own four walls, this article is your salvation. Finally, there are a few things to consider about how you should organize your workplace in your own home in order to continue to do your job as well as possible.
The perfect room

Point number one is choosing the right room for your home office. In the best case, you will have a separate office or workplace for this purpose. Important factors are tranquility, little distraction, and a productive working atmosphere. The living room, bathroom, or kitchen are therefore rather unsuitable. There are too many distractions lurking around here that could keep you from working. You should prefer a tidy, well-arranged room with a desk to a room with a desk.
The right chair

Anyone who spends a working day in front of a laptop or computer will appreciate a good ergonomic office chair. You sit more comfortable and your posture improves noticeably. Not only is it much healthier for your spine and back, but it is also a real productivity booster. If you feel more comfortable, you can stay seated for longer and therefore do not have to interrupt your work as often.
Tip: In spite of an ergonomic chair that adapts to your natural back shape, you will feel uncomfortable from sitting for several hours. Then it is advisable to get up briefly, stretch a little and walk a few steps through your apartment. Alternatively, you can schedule fixed times for it to maintain your planning and structure.
The right desk

Nowadays there are many different types of desks. The optimal desk for your home office should meet the following criteria: Size The optimal desk should be at least 50 inches wide and 30 inches deep. You are welcome to have it one step larger so that there is really enough space. We also recommend so-called free-form tables, which do not have the classic rectangular shape. A bow shape, for example, ensures that you have more space within your immediate reach and a better overview. Height adjustability is an important factor so that you can adjust the desk to your individual needs. Surface Instead of glass, use matt surfaces that reflect little. The desk should be designed in neutral colors and not feel cold.
Less is more

Keep your home office as reduced as possible, restrict yourself to the basics, the things you absolutely need to work. Every unnecessary accessory has the potential to become a distraction and thus a productivity killer.
Working in home office is an adventure. While for some it is an absurdity, for many others it is an absolute dream. Follow these tips for setting up your home office so you can get the most out of your home.
