Manager of Real Estate (Paralegal)
Full-time
Nashville, TN
4 days onsite – 1 day remote
The Senior Manager of Real Estate is responsible for overseeing the company’s portfolio of leased properties, ensuring accurate lease administration and compliance with lease terms, participating in lease negotiations, and strategic support for business operations. This role partners with Finance, Legal, and Operations departments to optimize lease management processes, mitigate risks, and support cost-effective decision-making across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end lease management function, including abstracting, tracking, and administering all real estate leases
- Ensure compliance with lease obligations, including rent payments, renewals, expirations, CAM reconciliations, and critical dates
- Partner with Legal to review lease language at inception and enforce compliance with contractual obligations
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date lease database/system of record
- Monitor upcoming expirations, renewals, and options; provide proactive recommendations to business leaders
- Identify opportunities to optimize real estate costs and improve space utilization including identifying opportunities for subleasing unused space
- Develop standardized procedures for lease setup, tracking, and reporting. Provide ad hoc reporting as required
- Review and approve rent payments, escalations, and landlord invoices
- Develop estimates for occupancy costs, rent expense, and lease-related financial commitments in support of budgeting and forecasting processes
- Communicate and resolve lease issues with Landlords and/or Property Managers as they arise
- Assist with commissioning and decommissioning of leased spaces as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
- 5 – 7+ years of experience in lease administration or real estate management
- Strong understanding of commercial lease structures
- Experience with multi-location corporate real estate portfolios is preferred
- Proficiency with lease administration systems (e.g. LeaseQuery/FinQuery)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, issue resolution, and negotiation skills
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and externally
