Description
The Midlevel’s job is to provide professional patient care in the clinic, surgery center and hospital setting, as needed or directed. This position will not require being in the OR and helping to assist with surgeries. This position will require traveling to multiple locations from Midtown, Franklin, Brentwood and Green Hills.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Work to optimize supervising physician’s time and efficiency
- Develop own practice under direction of supervising physician(s), including coordination of appointment schedule templates with Scheduling Team and administration
- Provide diagnostic, treatment and preoperative services, including the ordering of laboratory tests and imaging
- Record detailed information about actions taken in the course of treatment in the patient’s medical record, including completion of timely documentation for all patient encounters
- Assist physician with completion and signing of medical records and notes; some dictation may be necessary to achieve this
- Review lab and imaging results prior to entering patient exam room
- Take patient history and record the information in the patient’s chart
- Confer with physician(s) about patient findings and potential diagnosis and treatment before they see each patient
- Obtain needed equipment for exam room procedures
- Administer therapeutic injections and perform minor procedures as needed
- Review pre-operative instructions and explain the surgical process to preoperative patients
- Provide diagnosis and treatment services to established and postoperative patients
- Develop own practice and coordinate appointment scheduling templates with administration
- Prescribe medications, treatments and immunizations in accordance with physician protocols
- Formulate and update patient care plans; consult with physicians as needed
- Order pre-operative lab tests and imaging studies
- Perform patient education duties, including showing surgical videos, distributing brochures and directing patients to specific sources for additional information
- Oversee Clinical Assistants’ preparation of exam rooms, including re-stocking of treatment areas
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program or a Nurse Practitioner Program required
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Tennessee is required or a NCCPA Board Certification required
- Valid licensure in the State of Tennessee as a Physician Assistant
- Training in orthopedic care is a plus
- At least two years of experience in a physician office or hospital preferred
- Ability to make independent decisions regarding patient care
- Experience assisting physicians in surgery preferred
- Ability to understand managed care basics and working with a managed care and Medicare population
- Ability to operate electronic health record, practice management and word processing software efficiently and effectively
- Ability and willingness to understand compliance and billing matters as necessary to perform the job
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to perform patient education duties
- Neat, professional appearance
