We’re seeking a Mentoring Program Manager to lead and grow our mentoring initiatives across Iowa. In this role, you’ll oversee program strategy, staff supervision, community partnerships, and grant/funding management. You’ll be at the forefront of creating meaningful connections between youth and mentors—helping to shape brighter futures through proven, evidence-based mentoring practices.

What You’ll Do

As the Mentoring Program Manager, you will:

  • Lead & Supervise: Support and guide mentoring coordinators, facilitators, volunteers, and interns.

  • Drive Program Excellence: Plan, evaluate, and ensure mentoring programs follow best practices and meet the needs of youth and families.

  • Build Partnerships: Collaborate with schools, community agencies, and businesses to expand program reach and impact.

  • Manage Funding: Oversee grants and funding sources, ensuring compliance, reporting, and sustainability of mentoring efforts.

  • Promote Mentoring: Raise awareness of the power of mentoring through workshops, events, conferences, and community outreach.

  • Champion Youth Voice: Encourage and empower youth to lead, speak publicly, and serve on boards and coalitions.

Additional Details

  • Position Type: Part-time

  • Location: Primarily remote, with occasional in-person attendance for events, meetings, or site visits

  • Travel: Some travel required; valid Iowa driver’s license needed

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE/SKILL

  • A Bachelor’s degree in education, child development, family environment, sociology, social work, or related field is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in prevention, youth development, mentoring or related field is required. 
  • If applicable, certification is required after 24 months of full time employment.
  • Training, experience, and skills should include areas of volunteer coordination, recruiting, and management; program coordination and management; program development and strategic planning; personnel practices; public speaking ability; interviewing and training; grant writing and management.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills to problems solve.
  • Ability to convey information effectively through speech and writing skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively with others.
